Native Dwelling terrain

Here's a building I made last week, and we used it in a game a couple of days ago (battle report to be submitted as soon as).

It's my first go at a native dwelling, made in a vaguely middle-eastern style but 40k'd up with bits from GW's Cities of Death building kits. The basic structure is just foam card, and the next one I do will be a more complicated shape. I plan to make a load more so we can set some games out in the native areas, as most of our games so far have been set in the mining enclaves of the Imperial Mining Concern.

Front

Rear (note suspicious graffiti as noted on recent patrols and reported to garrison HQ).

very nice work on the building. As a suggestion, you should spend a bit of time on the corners, so that the foam core isn't visible through the "adobe" ..

I really like the look.. What did you do for the logo on the back?

  2. Totally agree on the foamcore - this was really a trial run and I'd certainly use masking tape or similar to hide the foam next time. To be honest, I didn't really expect this to turn out looking as finished as it does, and the foam lets it down.

The logo is just freehand - I painted the genestealer cult symbol in (appropriately!) Hormaganut Purple Foundation, and just gave it a dusting of Bleached Bone to pull it into the surface a bit.

wow, that's some killer freehand there mate.

And I don't think the foamcore let it down, it just kinda sticks out some. I'd imagine an extra layer of whatever you surfaced that will, would hide it quite nicely..
