Here's a pic of the first of the Space Slann miniatures I'm painting. I have an almost complete set (just one still to find) and so this is testing out the colour scheme. The green is Citadel Foundation Gretching Green, with an Asurman Blue Wash, which was highlighted up by way of 'translucent layers', using the wash to water down more Gretchin Green. Final highlights were Camo Green.
Hopefully I'll get time over the next few weeks to paint the whole warband, and then it can make an appearance on the world of Forget-me-not in some Rogue Trader B-movie-style old skool action!

That's just crazy old school Colonel! Love the paint job.
ReplyDeleteCheers Dave - I did this guy first because its the simplest miniature in the range. Many of the others have feathers and such, which I'm looking forward to painting various shades of purple and blue, as if they're Coatl features :-)
ReplyDeleteExcellent.
ReplyDeleteI would love to own some of these. Great to see such a great Old School 40k blog.
Have you seen the Space Broo (beastmen) from em4 miniatures? They very much look the part and they are of the same age too.
Brilliant stuff.
Rob
Brilliant, I love the old slann models. I wish I owned some.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the old Space Broo (Beast men) that Em4 Miniatures have brought out recently? They would definately look the part and they were sculpted around the same time.
Excellent to see such a brilliant old school sci fi blog. I'll have to upload some of my stuff soon!
Cheers Rob - It was only after 23 years of gaming that I finally got a set, so there's hope yet :-)
ReplyDeleteI have seen the EM4 miniatures - I'm undecided whether I like them or not, but maybe seeing them in the flesh would convince me!
I'm planning on getting some at Salute for my old school games. So I'll paint them up and put them on my blog then!
ReplyDeleteAwesome. I miss the old figs. The quality may not have been up to todays standard but to mr it seems the models had alot more character and personality back then. When do we get to see them in action?
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean mate. I've started the rest of the warband, and hope to get them on the table in the next few weeks. I got distracted by making an Adeptus Arbites watch-precinct out of the new GW Planetstrike Bastion set, which I'll post here too!
ReplyDeleteWhich Slann are you missing? I have a couple of them amongst all my early GW stuff.
ReplyDeleteHey Paul - thanks for the offer! Looking at the old flyer, its Olassa I don't have (although he's only a headswap away from Scoitz so its hard to be sure.)
